How to Play Reversi
Reversi, also known as Othello, is a classic two-player abstract strategy board game. Flip your opponent's discs by trapping them between your own. The player with the most discs when the board is full wins. This timeless game combines simple rules with deep strategic possibilities.
Objective
The goal is to have the majority of your colored discs showing on the board at the end of the game. You achieve this by outflanking your opponent's discs and flipping them to your color.
Setup
The game begins with four discs placed in the center of an 8×8 board in a diagonal pattern. Two black discs and two white discs are placed with same colors diagonal to each other. Black always moves first.
Gameplay
Players take turns placing one disc on an empty square. You must place your disc so that it outflanks one or more of your opponent's discs, meaning your new disc and an existing disc of yours must sandwich a straight line (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) of your opponent's discs. All outflanked discs are then flipped to your color. If you cannot make a valid move, your turn is skipped.
Winning
The game ends when neither player can make a valid move, usually when the board is full. The player with the most discs of their color on the board wins. If both players have the same number of discs, the game is a draw.
