About Lines of Action

Lines of Action (LOA) is a connection strategy board game where the goal is to link all your pieces into a single contiguous group.

The twist is movement. A piece must move exactly as many squares as there are pieces on its line of travel, which makes every position a new counting puzzle.

Try to centralize early, then use long moves to merge separated groups while preventing your opponent from doing the same.

How to play Lines of Action

Pieces move horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. The distance is equal to the total number of pieces on that line, counting both colors.

You may jump over friendly pieces but not enemy pieces. Capturing is allowed by landing on an enemy piece.

Improve by learning strategy

LOA strategy balances connection and disruption. Do not chase captures unless they help your structure, since removing pieces can also help your opponent connect.

Look for moves that connect two groups at once, and keep a reserve piece that can respond to threats on either wing.
