How to Play Connect6

Connect6 is a modern abstract strategy game invented by Professor I-Chen Wu in 2003. Similar to Gomoku but with a crucial twist: after Black's opening move, players place two stones per turn. This elegant rule change creates a remarkably balanced game where both players have equal winning chances, making it one of the fairest connection games ever designed.

Objective

Be the first player to form an unbroken line of six or more of your stones horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Unlike Gomoku's exactly-five requirement, any line of six or more wins.

Setup

The game is played on a 19x19 grid (like a Go board). The board starts empty. Black plays first with a single stone, then players alternate placing two stones per turn.

Gameplay

Black places one stone on the first turn only. After that, each player places exactly two stones per turn on any empty intersections. Stones cannot be moved or removed once placed. The two-stone rule is what makes Connect6 uniquely balanced.

Winning

The first player to achieve six or more stones in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) wins immediately. If the board fills completely without either player achieving this, the game is a draw.
