Connect Four Strategy Tips
Connect Four is a classic two-player connection game in which the players first choose a color and then take turns dropping colored discs from the top into a seven-column, six-row vertically suspended grid. The pieces fall straight down, occupying the next available space within the column.
Control the Center
The center column is the most valuable because it is part of more potential winning lines (vertical, horizontal, and diagonal) than the edge columns. Try to control the center early.
Block Your Opponent
Always watch your opponent's moves. If they have three discs in a row, you must place your disc to block them on your next turn, or they will win.
Look Ahead
Before making a move, think about where your disc will land and what opportunities it might give your opponent. Avoid placing a disc that allows your opponent to win on top of it.
Create Multiple Threats
Try to create a situation where you have two potential winning moves (a fork). Your opponent will only be able to block one, guaranteeing you a win on the next turn.
The '7' Shape
Look for patterns like the '7' shape formed by three of your discs. These configurations can often lead to multiple winning lines that are hard to defend against.
