Chinese Checkers Strategy Tips

Chinese Checkers is a classic strategy board game that can be played by two to six people, though this version is a 1-on-1 duel against the computer. Despite its name, the game is of German origin (originally called Sternhalma) and is not a variation of checkers. The objective is to be the first to race all of your pieces across the hexagram-shaped board into the opposing star corner.

Chain Jumps

Look for opportunities to create 'ladders' or chains of pieces that allow you to jump multiple times in one turn. A well-planned chain can move a marble across the entire board.

Keep Pieces Together

Isolated pieces are slower to move. Keeping your pieces somewhat connected allows them to jump over each other and maintain momentum.

Block the Opponent

Since you are moving towards each other, try to leave pieces in positions that block your opponent's best jumping paths while still advancing your own marbles.

Use the Center

Moving through the center of the board often provides more jumping opportunities than hugging the edges. The center is a highway for efficient marble movement.

Don't Leave Stragglers

Avoid leaving pieces behind in your starting triangle. A single straggler can cost you the game as it has no pieces to jump over and must move one step at a time.
